Youth Radio partnered with local New Orleans youth media groups, schools, non-profit organizations, and individual young people to create original and compelling stories in multiple formats. These efforts culminated in the creation of the hour-long nationally distributed public radio special, Generation Katrina: Youth Voices from New Orleans.
The documentary features a mix of personal narratives, sound-rich features, news driven reportage, and cultural analysis of post-Katrina life in New Orleans. Local youth contributed stories, musical interludes, and original photography. The radio special is available online and is being distributed to Public Radio International stations nationwide.
